ABC's next 9-1-1 series, set in Nashville, has found its first lead actor.Chris O'Donnell is set to star in 9-1-1: Nashville , which ABC picked up in February with a straight-to-series order. He's the first actor to star in the series, which is set to premiere in the 2025-26 season.
O'Donnell (pictured) will play fire chief Don Sharpe, described as "a tough-talking captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville's busiest firehouse alongside his beloved son. Don is a devoted husband and family man, but he has his secrets."
The role for O'Donnell will be his first ongoing role since NCIS: Los Angeles ended on CBS in 2023. O'Donnell played NCIS agent G. Callen in all 14 seasons of the series.
Ideas for a third series in the 9-1-1 franchise — from 20th Television and Ryan Murphy Television — had been floating around for several months, with Las Vegas as a possible setting, before ABC announced the Nashville spinoff. 9-1-1: Nashville joins the flagship series on ABC, while spinoff 9-1-1: Lone Star ended on Fox in February after five seasons.
O'Donnell guest-starred on Peacock's Bupkis with Pete Davidson. Before his long NCIS: Los Angeles stint, he starred in Scent of a Woman opposite Al Pacino, 1993's Three Musketeers, Batman Forever and Vertical Limit. He also had a recurring role on Grey's Anatomy early in the series.
