9-1-1 Renewed for a Ninth Season by ABC

ABC's procedural drama 9-1-1 has been renewed for a ninth season with an 18-episode order.
The series renewal news comes as no surprise, as the series continues to be a top linear and digital performer for the network and Hulu. Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, 9-1-1 follows the lives of Los Angeles’ first responders: police officers, paramedics, firefighters and dispatchers.

The series stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Guzman, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi and Gavin McHugh.

9-1-1 originally premiered in 2018 on Fox, where it ran for six seasons before being canceled. The 20th Television series was rescued by ABC, which picked it up for a seventh season in 2024. In its eighth season (its second on ABC), 9-1-1 continues to be a solid performer for the network, ranking No. 2 in viewership and No. 1 among adults 18-49.

9-1-1 will be joined next season by the spinoff 9-1-1: Nashville , which ABC ordered to series last month. Chris O'Donnell stars in the spin-off as Captain Don Sharpe, a tough fire captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville's busiest fire station with his beloved son. Don is a devoted husband and family man, but he has secrets.

In season eight of 9-1-1, 118 had to deal with aggressive bees, Bassett's Athena landed a plane on a downtown L.A. freeway, and Hewitt's Maddie had her throat slit.

9-1-1 also had a crossover with Murphy's Doctor Odyssey.
