Anthology series Accused (US) has added several actors to its cast for season two.Accused (US) is a collection of intense, timely human stories of crime and punishment. Told from the suspect’s point of view through flashbacks, each episode is a fast-paced, provocative thriller series investigating a different crime, in a different city, with an all-original cast.
The series is based on the BAFTA Award-winning BBC crime anthology series of the same name, created by Jimmy McGovern.
Debra Winger (photo), known for her role as Paula Pokrifki opposite Richard Gere in the film An Officer and a Gentleman and the Prime Video series Patriot (2017), Mercedes Ruehl and Christine Ebersole will appear in the new season. Matthew James Thomas, who appeared in the first season, will return in a new role.
The series also stars Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, Nick Cannon and Michael Chiklis.
Winger, Ruehl, Ebersole and Thomas will appear in the episode titled Margot's Story, which follows a widow who is put on trial after a relationship with a ballroom dance teacher goes too far.
Winger plays Margot, Ruehl plays Connie, Ebersole plays Deb and Thomas plays Alexei.
Accused (US) was developed for American television by Howard Gordon, who co-produces with Alex Gansa, David Shore, Erin Gunn and Daniel Pearle. Gordon and Pearle serve as co-showrunners.
Milan Cheylov, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, All3Media America's Jacob Cohen-Holmes, Jimmy McGovern, Sita Williams, Roxy Spencer and Louise Pedersen for All3Media International also serve as executive producers. The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment.
Season two premieres Tuesday, October 8 at 8 p.m. on Fox, a new date after being postponed due to the upcoming scheduled vice presidential debate between Gov. Tim Walz (D-Calif.) and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Calif.), hosted by CBS News.
