Adolescence More Watched Than All Seasons of Bridgerton in Netflix Top 10 of All Time

The hugely successful Netflix series Adolescence has just had a huge growth spurt.
Last week, the limited drama jumped from No. 9 on Netflix’s list of most popular TV shows to No. 4, the streamer revealed this week. It overtook seasons one and three of Bridgerton , fellow limited series The Queen’s Gambit and Fool Me Once , and season one of The Night Agent .

Adolescence

Adolescence debuted less than a month ago and has already amassed more than 114 million views, according to Netflix. Of those, 17.8 million were viewed last week, putting Adolescence back at No. 1 on the Netflix Top 10, beating the three-part documentary Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer and the medical-procedural experiment Pulse in their respective debut weeks.

A nice touch that’s helping to gradually shift internal records: Adolescence has been made available to stream in secondary schools in the United Kingdom.

Adolescence tells the story of how one family’s world is turned upside down when 13-year-old Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl in his school. Stephen Graham plays Jamie’s father (and his “appropriate adult” in police-speak), Eddie Miller. Ashley Walters plays Detective Luke Bascombe, and Erin Doherty plays Briony Ariston, the clinical psychologist assigned to Jamie’s case.

The miniseries reunites Graham and Philip Barantini, who previously worked together on the feature film Boiling Point. Like Boiling Point, each episode of Adolescence is a one-shot. The series was created and written by Graham and Jack Thorne (His Dark Materials, Toxic Town).
