Adolescence follows thirteen-year-old Jamie Miller, who is accused of murdering his classmate Katie. The four-part series explores the so-called manosphere, a sexist online community that turns against feminism and women.

De Britse serie is niet alleen door het onderwerp, maar ook door de filmstijl een grote hit. Elke aflevering bestaat uit slechts één shot.
"The series is ideally suited to start a conversation with young people about the role of media in their lives," says Beeld & Geluid director Eppo van Nispen tot Sevenaer. "Precisely because the world of young people is sometimes far removed from that of parents and teachers, it is important to learn to have that conversation."
Adolescence was previously offered free of charge to secondary schools in the UK, with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer calling it "an important initiative to encourage as many pupils as possible to watch". Starmer, a father of two, found the series hard-hitting but educational. "As a father who has watched it with his teenage son and daughter, I can tell you it hits hard," he said.
I turned this series off after 1.5 episodes because the story was so slow.
