Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) has released footage of herself as Linda Tripp in the upcoming season of American Crime Story. Linda Tripp acquired recordings of conversations between president Bill Clinton and his lover, which nearly resulted in his impeachment. The new season will revolve around the Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky affair, which dominated the news at the time. The story is further based on the book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President by Jeffrey Toobin.

Near the end of 2019, it became known that Clive Owen (The Knick) would portray Bill Clinton. Next to that, Billy Eichner (American Horror Story) will portray Matt Drudge, the Drudge Report journalist who revealed the story at the time.
