©Deadline - FX / Everett CollectionIn the short teaser, the now-iconic quote appeared: “Surprise, bitch. Bet you thought you’d seen the last of me?” — a reference to the character Madison Montgomery played by Emma Roberts in American Horror Story: Coven.
All announced actors have previously collaborated with Murphy. For example, Grande played Chanel #2 in the satirical slasher series Scream Queens, reuniting her with former co-stars Emma Roberts (Chanel Oberlin) and Billie Lourd (Chanel #3).
The return of Jessica Lange is particularly noteworthy. Earlier this year, the actress stated during the Glasgow Film Festival that she would “definitely not” return to the franchise: “Oh, Christ, no. I mean, I haven't done it for over ten, twelve years, so no, I’m not going to do it.”
Yet it now appears that Lange is making a comeback. She was one of the pillars of the early seasons of American Horror Story, shining in roles such as Constance Langdon in AHS: Murder House (2011), and subsequently in AHS: Asylum, AHS: Coven, and AHS: Freak Show — roles that earned her multiple Emmy Awards.
Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, who appeared in nearly every season starting from AHS: Murder House, are also returning. They starred in classics like Asylum, Coven, Hotel, Roanoke, Cult, Apocalypse, and Double Feature.
Angela Bassett, who co-produces the series 9-1-1 with Murphy, is also rejoining the AHS family. She made her debut in AHS: Coven as Marie Laveau, a role she reprised in AHS: Apocalypse.
With the return of so many iconic faces, American Horror Story season thirteen promises to be a grand tribute to the series' rich history — and a nostalgic reunion for fans who have faithfully followed Ryan Murphy's horror universe since 2011.
