New actors cast for Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches season three

The cast of the third season of AMC's Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches is expanding with James Frain and Eliza Scanlen.
The production of the new season of Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches has recently started in Vancouver, Canada. James Frain (True Detective, Gotham) will play Solomon and Eliza Scanlen (Sharp Objects, Dope Girls) takes on the role of Jessica, although further details about their characters remain a secret for now. Both actors will have regular roles alongside lead actress Alexandra Daddario.

James Frain

The third season moves the story to Salem, Massachusetts, where the series will delve deeper into the mythology of witchcraft and introduce new, 'enchanted' families. Historical events from Salem — known for the infamous witch trials — will also play a part.

After the first two seasons, which were set in New Orleans and with the second season ending on March 2nd, this chapter promises a fresh and dark twist in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe.

The cast of Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches season three also includes Betsy Brandt, Harry Hamlin, Tongayi Chirisa, and Alyssa Jirrels.

Eliza Scanlen

Frain is best known for his role as Theo Galavan/Azrael in Gotham (Fox), and he has also appeared in 24 (Fox), True Blood (HBO), True Detective (HBO), The White Queen (BBC), and Star Trek: Discovery (Paramount+). Frain recently had a recurring role in NBC's Quantum Leap (2022).

Scanlen is currently seen in BBC’s The Dope Girls and starred in the film The Starling Girl, alongside Lewis Pullman and Jimmi Simpson. Previously, she appeared in Sharp Objects (HBO) and The First Lady (Showtime).

A release date for Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches season three has not yet been announced.

Hopefully, this third season will truly bring a fresh twist, because honestly, I found season two a bit weaker. It had potential, but it felt a bit rudderless at times. Perhaps this fresh start and cast can breathe new life into the story.
