Season five of Arrested Development gets 17 episodes

Executive producer Brian Grazer of ‘Arrested Development’ said during an interview with Bill Simmons that 17 episodes are planned for the fifth season of ‘Arrested Development’. He said: “People are loyal to it, and we’re going to do another (pause) 17 episodes. So stay tuned for ‘Arrested Development’.”

‘Arrested Development’ ran for three low-rated seasons on Fox before it was cancelled. Series creator Mitch Hurwitz reunited the cast years later to make a fourth season for Netflix. Last year, Ted Sarandos, Netflix's chief content, said that he was positive that there will be a fifth season but that it was just a matter of working around the schedules of the cast.
