Arrow - Season 1 (First part)
Arrow tells the story of the rich man's son and womanizer Oliver Queen. Five years after being shipwrecked, which left him stranded at an island, he returns to Starling City.
But the Oliver Queen who disappeared, isn't the same Oliver Queen who came back. The five years of struggling on the island, away from the rest of the world, turned him into a new man. Turned him into 'something' new. The island forced and formed him into a weapon. And he uses that weapon against criminals and corrupt people who are afflicting the town. He is helped by a list of names, listed in a book he was given by his father, before he died. Olivers goal is to justify the injustice that has been done to the town, including by his own family. He battles with them, masked and by the name of Arrow. Armed with bow and arrow.
Arrow shows us the double life that Oliver is leading after his return. His reputation as the son of a millionaire and his dissolute life in contrast with his battle against injustice. We get to meet the people who are dear to him. His little sister, mother, stepfather, best friend and ex-girlfriend. He cheated on the latter with her sister, who didn't survive the shipwreck. In addition, we meet Diggle, his bodyguard who becomes his right-hand man.
The same question remains, who can be trusted, and who can't?
The flashbacks that can be seen in some of the episodes, portray Oliver's time on the island and show bit by bit what turned Oliver into what he is now, how he is now.
The series is based on the strip 'Green Arrow'. A modern reference to the adventures of Robin Hood.
Actor Stephen Amell makes an impressive and reliable portrayal of Oliver. Once you're under the spell of this series, there's no way back. A good combination of a lot of action, a touch of drama and a high dosis of superheroes. This requires more!
