Adam Beach Cast as Hakoda for Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024) Season Three

Adam Beach has landed the role of Hakoda in the third season of the live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024).
The long-awaited addition of Hakoda to the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024) is finally here — and Adam Beach will be taking on the role. Fans of the original animated series have been hoping for a casting that would do justice to the Water Tribe’s cultural background for years, and the choice of Beach, a native Canadian actor, has been widely praised.

Hakoda is the chief of the Southern Water Tribe and the father of Sokka (Ian Ousley) and Katara (Kiawentiio). In the original animated series, he is a smart, courageous leader who fights against the Fire Nation during the war. His return to the story is an important emotional moment for his children, especially Katara, and makes him a key figure in the third season.

Adam Beach is best known for his role as Ira Hayes in Clint Eastwood’s Flags of Our Fathers and as Detective Chester Lake in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Beach brings an impressive track record and cultural authenticity to the role. He can also be seen in Apple TV+’s Government Cheese and has a lead role in an upcoming Garry A. Brown biopic about fire captain Paul Fullerton.

The Netflix live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024) is a modern retelling of the classic Nickelodeon animated series, in which Avatar Aang (Gordon Cormier) attempts to control the four elements—air, water, earth, and fire—to restore balance to the world and stop the Fire Nation.

Season three also sees Jon Jon Briones (as Piandao) and Tantoo Cardinal (as Hama) join the cast.
