Vince moves to Terschelling with his daughter Zoë in Badgast to retrieve a package for a friend.Tom Waes is no stranger in both Flanders and the Netherlands. Everything the man touched in recent years turned to gold. The successes piled up, and even a drunken drive with a Porsche that ended against a crash absorber didn't stop Tom from continuing to make successful television. However, whether he will reap the same praise with Badgast as he did with, for example, Undercover, is a big question. In Undercover, he always had some strong co-stars, while in Badgast, he seems to have to carry the series almost on his own. Let's hope that goes well. The first episode of the co-production between the VRT and the KRO/NCRV is not exactly a business card that makes our hair stand on end.
For now, we're sticking with a case of doubt, and we can only hope that the seven episodes to come will bring improvement.
In Badgast, Tom plays the role of Vince, who travels to Terschelling with his daughter Zoë. Tom is the owner of a diving school in Curaçao and initially intended to take his daughter to that island. However, due to circumstances, Vince must go to Terschelling to dive to a sunken boat to retrieve certain illegal substances. Of course, not everything goes smoothly. Vince has to dive during a storm, drops Zoë at a party full of alcohol and drugs, and is then almost caught by the coast guard, causing his search to fail. Meanwhile, Zoë encounters problems with some young guys at the party and can't reach her father.
Essentially, it's an almost ordinary scenario that has been presented in various forms in many other series. If you want to serve the audience a portion of sameness, you have to ensure it tastes good, and we can't really say that after watching this first episode. Waes must somehow elevate the series to a higher level, but debutante Freya Van Campenhout manages to draw much more attention to herself as Vince's daughter, portraying her character as a rebellious teenager strongly. In the first episode of Badgast, several characters emerge who will certainly become more important as the story progresses, but during this first episode, their roles are still quite limited.
For now, we remain undecided and can only hope that the seven episodes that follow will bring improvement.

In addition, Mike logically enjoys watching series and has actually been spoon-fed this from an early age. The genre doesn't matter, there is a place for everything in the otherwise busy life.
