Tyler Perry writes, directs, and produces the series himself, with Angi Bones and Tony Strickland serving as producers on behalf of Tyler Perry Studios. Beauty in Black is part of Perry's overarching deal with Netflix.
The series' success is significant: the first season remained in the Netflix Top 10 for seven weeks and even reached the number one position in 28 countries in its second week. The first part of season two also managed to reach the top position in fourteen countries during its second week.
With the announced third season, the story of Kimmie and the Bellarie family will come to a definitive end, with Netflix promising an epic conclusion for one of the most successful drama series in the Tyler Perry universe.
