Sequel of Blue Mountain State with Reacher actor Alan Ritchson in the works

Cult college football series Blue Mountain State is making a comeback. A sequel to the 2010 sports comedy series recently hit the television market.
Blue Mountain State had Reacher's Alan Ritchson starring as Kevin 'Thad' Castle. The original series' co-stars Darin Brooks and Chris Romano are also expected to return for the follow-up from Lionsgate Television.

According to sources, the project has not yet fully landed and negotiations are still ongoing. The likely destinations would be Amazon Prime, where Ritchson helms the hit series Reacher, or Netflix, where Blue Mountain State found a new audience and solidified its cult status after its original three seasons on Spike.

Created by Chris Romano and Eric Falconer, who are back for the sequel, Blue Mountain State is about a fictional university, Blue Mountain State, and its football team, the Mountain Goats. It centers on three incoming freshmen - played by Darin Brooks, Alan Ritchson (pictured) and Chris Romano - who must quickly adapt to college life and juggle football, girls, classes and non-stop hazing. Ritchson's Kevin 'Thad' Castle was the ever-inspiring captain of the BMS football team.

The sequel film Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland, released in 2016 with Brooks, Ritchson and Roman in their roles, was funded by a Kickstarter campaign.
