Regé-Jean Page has left Bridgerton

Regé-Jean Page (For the People (2018)) will not return for the second season of Bridgerton. He portrayed the popular character Duke of Hastings.

In the second season of Bridgerton, the paths of actor Regé-Jean Page (For the People (2018)) and Bridgerton will separate. Page will not return to portray Simon/Duke of Hastings in the second season. The upcoming season will only contain references to the character. Last year, Page became famous due to his role in this popular Netflix series, which saw him star across Phoebe Dynevor (Snatch).

Dynevor portrays Daphne Bridgerton, the eldest daughter of the mighty and powerful Bridgerton family. The first season revolves around the characters of Page and Dynevor. Supposedly, it was already known Page wasn't going to return. He had only signed up for the first season. Page responded on Twitter. “Pleasure and a privilege! An honour to be a member of the family – on and off-screen, cast, crew and incredible fans – the love is real and will just keep growing,” he wrote.

The second season will revolve around Daphne's older brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey, Broadchurch). He will be looking for a suitable partner. It has already been revealed who's going to be the lead actress of the second season.
