First-look photos for the third season of the Netflix series Bridgerton

Netflix has revealed more footage of Penelope and Colin's love story in Bridgerton's upcoming third season. Season three, which is actually based on Romancing Mister Bridgerton, the fourth book in Julia Quinn's series, shows Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), who has finally given up on her crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after turning her on last season. discredited to his friends. Instead, she focuses on finding a man who respects her independence so she can continue her double life as Lady Whistledown away from her mother and sisters. Meanwhile, Colin is back from his summer vacation with a new look and plenty of swagger. He is disheartened when he learns that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him for who he was, is leaving him out in the cold. Wanting to win back her friendship, Colin helps Penelope boost her confidence so she can attract the perfect husband. But when his lessons start to work a little too well, Colin must figure out his true feelings for his girlfriend.

Things are complicated for Penelope by her split from Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new boyfriend in a most unlikely place, while Penelope's growing presence in the barrel makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.

Season three also welcomes new showrunner and executive producer Jess Brownell taking over following the departure of series creator Chris Van Dusen last season. Van Dusen will continue to executive produce this season alongside Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers and Tom Verica.
