Early renewal four FOX shows

FOX renewed ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, ‘The Mindy Project’, ‘New Girl’ and ‘The Following’ early in the season. Golden Globe winner ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ gets a second season, ‘The Mindy Project’ and ‘The Following’ will get a third season, and ‘New Girl’ will get a fourth season. ‘Sleepy Hollow’, ‘Bones’ and ‘Glee’ where already renewed by FOX. That means that FOX is almost ready for the coming season.

The network announced earlier that it had moved away from pilot season. The quick renewal is a witness of very much confidence in these shows. Usually the early renewals are for new hit shows or shows that are a constant performer for a network. ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ and ‘New Girl’ are a bit of a surprise because the critics are positive but the ratings stay low. ‘The Following’ however had a very successful first season; the second season is struggling and has lost a lot of viewers. That ‘The Following’ had to go up against the winter Olympics did not help at all.

But all four shows are still well viewed days after airing so that counts and is getting more important for the network. Networks are valuing the ratings after air date more and more and that is what FOX held in account for renewing the four shows. This is good news for fans of the shows.
