Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot reveals new cast

Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot reveals new cast

Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, and Daniel DiTomasso are among the actors joining the cast of previously announced Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Kiera Armstrong.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot is taking shape. Following the earlier announcement that Sarah Michelle Gellar will return in a recurring role as Buffy—the iconic vampire hunter she played between 1997 and 2003—and that Ryan Kiera Armstrong will play the new slayer, a large part of the pilot cast has now been revealed.

The new regular cast members are Faly Rakotohavana as Hugo, Ava Jean as Larkin, Sarah Bock as Gracie, Daniel DiTomasso as Abe and Jack Cutmore-Scott as Mr. Burke

This young and diverse cast will be added to the story about a new generation of slayers, with Armstrong's character at the center. Gellar returns as the original Buffy, but will take a supporting role rather than the lead.

The pilot is being written and directed by Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman (Poker Face), who also serve as showrunners and executive producers. Chloé Zhao (Nomadland, Eternals), an outspoken fan of the original Buffy, will direct and executive produce through her production company, Book of Shadows.

While official plot details are still scarce, sources have reported that the reboot will focus on a new young slayer, played by Armstrong. The setting, tone, and mythology are expected to partially build on the original, but with a contemporary approach—including modern themes such as identity, social media, and what it means to be an outsider.
