Glen Powell Transforms Into “Extremely Ugly” Quarterback in Teaser for Hulu’s Had Powers

Glen Powell, known for films such as Top Gun: Maverick, takes on perhaps his most notable role yet in the new Hulu series Chad Powers: that of an "extremely ugly" American football player. In the comedy series Chad Powers, Glen Powell plays Russ Holliday – a talented but fallen quarterback whose fame seems to be over. After making a crucial mistake during a game and being completely trashed on social media, he decides to take drastic action. In order to save his American football career, Russ undergoes an elaborate disguise with a wig and a fake nose to pose as a completely new character: Chad Powers. His motto: “If I can’t play like Russ, I’ll just play like someone else.”

The series focuses heavily on satire, identity and second chances, with a fallen sports hero trying to save his reputation, a disguise so over the top he’s barely recognizable, a team completely deceived by his alter ego and humorous observations of sports culture and social media. For example, a cheerleader says dryly in the teaser: “He’s, uh… really ugly.”

Chad Powers is based on a popular sketch from the show Eli’s Places, produced by NFL Films and Omaha Productions, in which former NFL star Eli Manning went undercover as an unknown American football player. That original sketch inspired this narrative series, starring and co-creator Glen Powell.

The teaser for Chad Powers gives a first look at the physical transformation and humorous tone of the series. Expect sharp jokes, sports parodies, and a story about someone who will do anything to get a second chance—even with a disguise so ugly that no one knows who he really is.
