Previously, Chad's second season was set to return on TBS on April 11, 2022, before Warner Bros. Discovery pulled the plug on the series.
Created by Saturday Night Live alum Nasim Pedrad, who also plays the character of the Persian-American teen, Chad's second season centers on his sophomore year, as the fifteen-year-old faces new challenges.
His newfound popularity is threatened, his friendship with best friend Peter is tested, and his prepubescent attention is captivated by a new crush, all while Chad continues to come to terms with his cultural identity.
The cast for season two also includes Paul Chahidi as Uncle Hamid, Saba Homayoon as Naz, Chad's mother, Ella Mika as Chad's sister, Niki, Alexa Loo as Denise and Thomas Barbusca as Reid, and Sara Malal Rowe.
Pedrad is also a writer, executive producer and showrunner on this comedy. Oliver Obst, Rob Rosell, Max Searle and Rhys Thomas are also executive producers of the comedy series.
Roku acquired season two of Chad in October 2022, as well as the non-exclusive rights to the series' first season. During Chad's original season on TBS, it ranked number one among new scripted comedy series on cable in 2021.
Chad was praised for breaking racial stereotypes with an authentic portrayal of the lives of immigrants and Middle Eastern Americans. The series is a passion project for Pedrad, who spent about a decade working on it, first at Fox, where it was originally developed and went to pilot, and then at TBS. The comedy beat the odds to become a rare series to survive a cancellation and find a new home on Roku.
All ten episodes of Chad's second season will be released on Friday, January 19.
