Chicago PD - Season 10 (DVD)

This season is another very solid series of episodes and Chicago PD remains one of the best police series from America.
Sergeant Henry “Hank” Voight (Jason Beghe, Californication) remains the ruthless leader of the police team that fights crime in one of America's most criminal cities. Voight uses unorthodox methods and again this season he adheres to few rules and regulations other than protecting his own people and locking up criminals. He is the lynchpin of the series and this is emphasized by the fact that producer Dick Wolf (also responsible for the Law & Order and FBI franchises) has also made Jason Beghe executive producer with effect from the tenth season.

His team includes Detective Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos, Revolution), Officers Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger, The 4400), Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins, South Side) and Kim Burges (Marina Squerciati, Gossip Girl) and loyal Administrative Specialist Sergeant Trudy Platt (Amy Morton, Boss). Voight gets a new manager and that also means a different dynamic for him and the team.

The tenth season begins with the aftermath of the death of a key informant. This causes increased friction in the relationship between Voight, Upton and Halstead. In addition, newcomer Torres has to fight for his place within the team and there are battles with drug cartels and arms dealers, a meth laboratory causes deaths and they therefore encounter a ruthless opponent who is even more dangerous than the usual drug traffickers.

The season ends as usual with an extremely exciting open ending, in which a member of the team ends up in a life-threatening situation.

Another very solid series of episodes and Chicago PD remains one of the best police series from America. The season ends as usual with an extremely exciting open ending, in which a member of the team ends up in a life-threatening situation. It is a long wait for the sequel and also exactly how many episodes there will be in the next season. Due to the strikes by writers and actors, the eleventh season will not start until January 17, 2024 on NBC in America.

This tenth season could be seen on Star Channel (the successor to Fox Netherlands) from March 2023 and was released on DVD in the Netherlands in November 2023. The 22 episodes are pressed onto four discs and provide a total of 921 minutes of viewing pleasure. The image quality is excellent and the sound quality is also of good quality. The episodes are available in English, French and German spoken versions and, in addition to Dutch, also have subtitles in those three languages. Unfortunately - just like last season - there are no extras in this edition.

About the writer, Karzal

Karzal
Mike (1995) has been a member of MySeries since 2016 and is mainly active on the English version of the site. Since 2018, he has been actively translating news articles, columns, reviews and basically everything that ends up on the Dutch site. The original articles, columns and reviews were actually written by others. During the week Mike can be found at IKEA, where he is a national systems specialist and occasionally also in the classroom to teach an English lesson. In addition, Mike logically enjoys watching series and has actually been spoon-fed this from an early age. The genre doesn't matter, there is a place for everything in the otherwise busy life.

Were the Dutch subtitles okay on the DVD? I don't dare order it yet because a customer said in the reviews at Bol that the subtitles were quickly missing

For me, the subtitles were fine, were not missing during the episodes and were of good quality.
