The success of the Italian series has also attracted more audiences for the American version of Citadel, according to Amazon, from countries including the US, the United Kingdom and Italy. Italian Originals that previously performed well for the channel include Everybody Loves Diamonds and The Bad Guy.
Citadel: Diana is produced by Cattleya of ITV Studios and Amazon MGM Studios, and executive produced by AGBO of the Russo Brothers. Set in 2030 Milan, the series follows Diana Cavalieri (De Angelis), an undercover agent working for the eponymous global spy agency, as she is trapped behind enemy lines as a mole in the powerful enemy syndicate Manticore.
Citadel: Diana is the latest instalment in the franchise. The American original starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden was launched worldwide last year. When launched in 2023, this version was Amazon Prime Video's second most-watched new original series outside the US and the fourth most-watched series worldwide after 24 days.
A second season of the American original series has gone into production, while an Indian version, Citadel: Honey Bunny, starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, kicks off on Thursday, November 7.
