CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is cut short

For the second time in the long history of ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’ the crime series will not get a full season of 22 episodes or more. The 15th season will get 18 episodes. The series had had fewer episodes only once before, that was in 2008 due to the scriptwriters strike, then ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’ only had 17 episodes.

According to CBS it's not because it has no faith in the series, but because the network has a few other series in the pipeline. The new series ‘CSI: Cyber’ will take over from ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’ later in the season. CBS also has the seventh and final season of ‘The Mentalist’ still lined up and the new Vince Gilligan series ‘Battle Creek’ will also have its debut this season.

The original ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’ continues to follow Las Vegas crime scene investigators as they try to solve bizarre cases. This season’s castmates are Ted Danson, Elisabeth Shue, George Eads, Jorja Fox, Eric Szmanda, Robert David Hall, Wallace Langham, David Berman, Elisabeth Hamois, and Jon Wellner.

Year after year the ratings keep falling slightly, but they are still not bad for such a long-running series, the shift to Sunday night has certainly helped. Are you still watching ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’ after 15 years and are you sorry that this season has been shortened?
