Back on the 17th of July in 2020, the first season premiered. After that, there wasn't a whole lot of talking going on about the series. There were some rumours that it had already been cancelled, but now, finally, the confirmation has been given to Deadline. The cast has been told that their contracts will not be extended.
Based on Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler’s illustrated book, Cursed was a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend as told through the eyes of the young woman, played by Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why, photo), who would become the Lady of the Lake. Cursed explored such themes as the obliteration of the natural world, religious zeal and oppression, senseless war and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.
The series was given a substantial budget and thus looked pretty good. However, the story was lacking, which resulted in a 5.9 on IMDb after 25.000 votes. For Netflix, the lacklustre reception was the reason for the cancellation.
