While they give their all professionally, they are confronted with their own role as a child or parent outside the hospital walls. In this new season, we also meet nurse Amanda, played by Ella Leyers, who brings positivity to the department with a smile, but who carries more with her than she shows.
Heading the Pediatrics department is Linda (Jennifer Hoffman), who likes to keep her employees' work and private lives separate, but is unexpectedly confronted with her own private situation at work. In Linda's team, Naima (Nadia Amin), the newly appointed pediatrician, is trying to find her way in the hospital where she was first a patient and her baby was stillborn. At Linda's request, Naima regularly visits the slightly clumsy but talented psychologist Lasse (Guy Clemens). Lasse is too quick to forget himself and as a result occasionally gets into trouble with his feelings.
Meanwhile, pediatrician Jerry (Benja Bruijning) struggles with new parenthood and his blended family with midwife Ella (Kim van Kooten). Their daughter doesn't sleep and neither does Jerry. His lack of sleep builds up, as does the work stress. It also slowly becomes clear that things aren't going well with his son Sam. Jerry doesn't want to see it, but Ella sees it and that puts a lot of pressure on their relationship. The seasoned nurse from the Obstetrics department, Trui (Bianca Krijgsman), has transferred to Pediatrics. When a foundling is brought in, she gets too involved and has difficulty suppressing her maternal feelings.
Ella Leyers is the newcomer this season. She plays the role of Amanda — a funny, free-spirited and creative nurse. She brings a positive energy to her work, gets along well with young people and gets along with all colleagues. But there is something hidden behind the cheerful facade. What happened in Amanda's past that she finds difficult to share with her colleagues?
