Daredevil: Born Again looks like a good sequel to the previous Daredevil series with familiar faces returning and of course a lot of blunt action. The first episode of Daredevil: Born Again starts off very strong. From the first second it feels like you are continuing to watch the predecessor Marvel's Daredevil, but in a new season. You immediately see familiar faces, the atmosphere is the same, there is hard action and it is very raw. Within the opening minutes there is also a one taker (a (long) scene that is recorded in a single uninterrupted take) with non-stop action that you were also treated to in every season in the predecessor Daredevil. In short: the series starts off very strong.
For a long time, it was assumed that the prequel Marvel's Daredevil did not take place in the same universe as Daredevil: Born Again, which is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). During the production of Born Again, the creators changed their minds and the story was adjusted so that the prequel Daredevil became part of the MCU. But this also means that Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and The Punisher (whose titular protagonist (Jon Bernthal) will also appear in Born Again) have become part of the MCU.
It ultimately took more than six years for the story of Daredevil to be continued. Certain characters have also appeared in other series and films in the intervening years. For example, Wilson Fisk (aka Kingpin and played by Vincent D'Onofrio) also briefly appeared in Marvel's Hawkeye and in Echo. And Matt Murdock (Daredevil and played by Charlie Cox) also had two excursions, namely in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and the film Spider-Man: No Way Home. But now these characters (Fisk and Murdock) are central again in their own series. In addition to being a sequel to the series Marvel's Daredevil, it is also a continuation of an important point that came up in Echo. That is where Wilson Fisk came up with the idea of running for mayor of New York.
For the viewers who have also seen Echo, you will probably notice something right away. Namely, how can Wilson Fisk still have both eyes. In Echo he had lost one eye. In Born Again he has two functioning eyes again. You can see a very faint scar by the eye, but hopefully this will be explained further somewhere in the first season of Born Again. But of course we must not forget that it is the MCU and that a lot is possible in that.
You immediately see familiar faces, the atmosphere is the same and there is hard action and it is very raw
After the first episode of Born Again, there will be eight more episodes of the first season and a second season has also been announced. After watching the first episode, I have definitely got the taste for it and I am very curious about what the rest of this season will bring us.
In short: a good start to the continuation of the Daredevil storyline. Many familiar faces, spectacular action, gripping story and raw.
Based on the above, the first episode of the first season of Daredevil: Born Again gets a well-deserved 9.

The three seasons of Marvel's Daredevil were more than excellent and stood far above those other series (Cage, Fist, Punisher and Jones), although Jessica Jones was certainly not bad either. So I'm also happy that DD is back and that your review of the first episode is so positive. I'm also looking forward to watching this again.
Great review Thomas. The first episode of Daredevil: Born Again immediately makes an impression. It's great to see Matt Murdock back in action, and the series manages to find a nice balance between recognizable elements and a fresh approach. The cinematography and action scenes look slick, and the atmosphere promises a strong season. Curious to see how the story will develop further! At the time of writing, there have already been three episodes and I'm already looking forward to the fourth episode.
I'm also very happy that Daredevil is back. In episode three the bloody action and the direct confrontation between Murdock and Fisk were a bit toned down, but the series proves itself excellent there too. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season (and season two)
