Netflix reveals premiere date and new photos for Dead Boy Detectives

Netflix has set a premiere date for its upcoming dark YA genre series Dead Boy Detectives.
Dead Boy Detectives is based on the comics of the same name by Neil Gaiman and is part of The Sandman Universe. The series follows Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri), 'the brains' and 'the brawn' behind the Dead Boy Detectives agency. Edwin and Charles are best friends and ghosts... who solve mysteries.

They will do anything to stay together - including escaping evil witches, hell and death itself. With the help of a psychic named Crystal (Kassius Nelson) and her friend Niko (Yuyu Kitamura), they crack some of the mortal realm's most mysterious paranormal cases.

IThe eight-episode series also stars Kassius Nelson, Jenn Lyon, Briana Cuoco, Yuyu Kitamura, Ruth Connell, Lukas Gage and David Iacono.

Dead Boy Detectives can be streamed on Netflix from Thursday, April 25.

The series was developed for television by Steve Yockey, who wrote the first episode and serves as showrunner alongside Beth Schwartz as co-showrunner. Greg Berlanti, Yockey, Schwartz, Jeremy Carver, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman and Gaiman are executive producers of the series from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television. The first episode was produced and directed by Lee Toland Krieger.

I don't know what "The Sandman Universe" is, I haven't watched that series. But I hope this series can be watched as a standalone. Because unlike the Sandman, this series seems like something to me. Nowadays the universes are being created from the ground. I even read this week that there will be a Poohniverse :-)
