The most likable serial killer in serial land is back with a prequel about his youth. Dexter: Original Sin delves into Morgan Dexter's past and gives fans a glimpse into his youth and his first steps in killing. With Dexter: Original Sin we dive into the youth of the sympathetic killer who is currently very much in the spotlight in the series landscape. An earlier attempt with Dexter: New Blood in which the son of Dexter appears who clearly has the same strange brain twist as his father apparently set a trail to milk the Dexter franchise further. Later this year the adult serial killer will appear again in Dexter: Resurection.
After watching the first episode, we already knew that Original Sin would once again revive the times of the original eight seasons of Dexter. The recognizable characters in the police force will reappear, supplemented with a few newcomers. One of them will play a prominent role in the ongoing scenario of this season in which the force must search for a kidnapper and murderer of children. The latest kidnapped victim is also the son of a police inspector.
Dexter himself gets an internship at the forensic department of the police force in Original Sin. For him, of course, the ideal place to find out certain things to carry out his hobby, killing criminals. In this prequel, we get to see the first steps in how Morgan Dexter starts his murderous career. The first almost failed attempts, the solutions he comes up with to take less risk in the future and of course the help of his father, who teaches him the well-known rules he has to take into account to stay out of the sights of the investigators.
An important part of Original Sin, however, is Dexter's childhood. We learn how Dexter ended up in the police officer's family. Dexter's mother was an informant in a drug case and had a relationship with Dexter's stepfather. However, the cartel finds out that she is passing information on to the police, which results in a horrible death for the lady in front of her two sons.
So somewhere there is another brother of Dexter around and he is not exactly a wimp. He makes himself felt in the second part of this first season of Original Sin and at the end it becomes clear that if there is a second season, he will play a decisive role in the life of Morgan Dexter.
In any case, it ensures that this prequel is more than successful and we are already looking forward to the next new series about our favorite serial killer.
