Two old acquaintances return in Dexter: Resurrection

Two old acquaintances return in Dexter: Resurrection

Besides James Remar, David Zayas and Jack Alcott, more old Dexter faces appear in Dexter: Resurrection.
Emmy winners John Lithgow and Jimmy Smits are set to reprise their roles as Arthur Mitchell aka the Trinity Killer and Miguel Prado respectively in the Showtime original series Dexter: Resurrection. The series has been in production in New York since January.

Lithgow (pictured) received an Emmy Award, Critics' Choice Award, SAG Award, and Golden Globe nomination for playing the diabolical Trinity Killer. Smits received an Emmy nomination for his season three role as Miguel, the ADA-turned-lawbreaker bent on revenge.

At this point, fans of the Dexter universe aren't surprised when news of dead people being brought back to life comes out. Especially when it comes to Lithgow, who appeared in flashback scenes in the limited series Dexter: New Blood. The sequel to New Blood is titled Resurrection, so anything is possible at this point. This is Smits' (pictured) return to the franchise, but a young Miguel Prado appeared in Dexter: Original Sin played by Nick Santucci.

Led by Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall, who returns as the titular serial killer, and returning players David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, Jack Alcott as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan, and James Remar as Dexter’s father Harry Morgan, the cast also includes new additions including Uma Thurman as Charley, Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva, and Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera.

Previously announced cast members include Neil Patrick Harris, who will play Lowell, Krysten Ritter as Mia Lapierre, Eric Stonestreet as Al, and David Dastmalchian as Gareth. It was recently announced that Dexter: New Blood’s David Magidoff will reprise his Iron Lake Police Department role of Teddy Reed.

Hopefully, Lithgow’s return as Trinity will ultimately tie into the potential spinoff prequel series about his early years that was reported in December, in the same way that Dexter’s survival from New Blood bled into the premiere of Original Sin.

Phillips and fellow Dexter veteran Scott Reynolds will serve as co-creators and executive producers on the limited series project that has already been written. Fans are also awaiting the renewal for season two of Dexter: Original Sin, whose first season, led by Patrick Gibson and Christian Slater, concluded in February.
