Dexter and other serial killers unite in the trailer for Dexter: Resurrection

Paramount+ has released a trailer for the latest Dexter sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection.
Fans of the Dexter franchise were treated to a surprising dose of blood and nostalgia at CCXP Mexico City this past weekend with the highly anticipated trailer for Dexter: Resurrection. The sequel series, which builds on Dexter: New Blood, brings back Michael C. Hall as the notorious serial killer Dexter Morgan – this time in an all-new setting: New York City.

Dexter is no longer the only one with a dark passenger. The trailer reveals that he’ll find himself in NYC in a sort of “Avengers of serial killers,” with surprisingly colorful, flamboyant, and deadly characters.

The footage gives fans of the Dexter franchise their biggest look yet at what showrunner Clyde Phillips and lead actor Hall have in store when they bring Dexter Morgan back to life this summer.

Dexter’s reanimation was first revealed in a flash-forward in Dexter: Original Sin (which has been renewed for a second season and was also helmed by Phillips).

The trailer below shows that Dexter: Resurrection will waste no time in delivering the long-awaited reunion between Dexter and his former friend and colleague, Angel Batista (David Zayas) of Miami Metro.

Dexter: New Blood ended with Batista realizing that Dexter could be the infamous Bay Harbor Butcher, and the detective confronts his former friend about the accusation while Dexter is still recovering in the hospital. The reunion causes Dexter to go on the run, and he chooses New York City as a great place to try to remain anonymous.

The trailer doesn’t reveal exactly how it happens, but he’ll be interacting with new franchise characters played by Uma Thurman and Peter Dinklage, and there he’ll be introduced to more serial killers played by Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet and David Dastmalchian, who guest star as Lowell, Mia, Al and Gareth, respectively. “Only in New York,” Dexter says.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Batista is seen trying to help Dexter’s son Harrison (Jack Alcott) get back on the right path, while James Remar returns as the ghost of Dexter’s late father, Harry, to advise his son to do the same.

Dexter: Resurrection debuts with two episodes on Friday, July 11 on Paramount+ and for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, before premiering on Sunday, July 13 at 8 p.m. The rest of the season will air weekly.
