Elena (Tess Romero) is a 12-year-old Cuban / American girl who goes to high school and has to work her way through the personal and social pressure of adolescence. Diary of a Future President, based on her diary, follows the daily events in her life and her interactions with friends and family.
She lives with her older brother Bobby (Charlie Bushnell) and mother Gabi (Selenis Leyva), who is developing a new relationship with Sam (Michael Weaver), a lawyer from her office. Elena has a strong desire to become president of the United States, which is visible through flashforwards with images of her political campaign as an adult.
The series is produced by Gina Rodriguez and I Can and I Will Productions. Rodriguez directed the first episode and also plays the role of the older Elena as president of the United States. Disney + has now launched a trailer for the Diary of a Future President series.
