The Trials of Doc Martin. Doctor Martin Ellingham is a leading surgeon in London. One day, however, things go wrong and he has to deal with a persistent blood phobia. Seeing or smelling blood makes him sick, making him unable to perform operations. This brings him back to the picturesque fishing village of Port Wenn in Cornwall. Where he spent large parts of his childhood with his aunt Joan. In Port Wenn, Doc Martin will replace the late GP Doctor Simm. Always very serious and authoritarian, Doc Martin quickly clashes with the residents because of his anti-social behavior. He hates people who are not intelligent, for him that actually includes the entire village. Doc Martin is assisted by Pauline his secretary, always busy, especially with calling her sweethearts. Then we have Louisa, the teacher, no matter how hard they try to build something up, it almost always ends up wrong. There are also Bert and Al, father and son, 12 trades and 13 accidents. Especially Bert messes up everything, one day a plumber, the next day a restaurant owner. Then we have dull cop Mark and the village pharmacist who is head over heels in love with Doc Martin. In short, a hilarious series. We are currently at the start of the 9th season.
