The two-minute look at the upcoming season gives audiences a taste of Gatwa and Millie Gibson's Ruby Sunday as they journey through time and space in the TARDIS, with stops in 1960s Regency England ("Oh my, Bridgerton !"), when dinosaurs still walked the earth and much more.

The trailer, set to David Bowie's 'Changes', opens with someone wondering where Gatwa's Doctor came from, as Ruby explains that she doesn't know, he just showed up and started talking about time travel.
“It’s called the TARDIS. It’s a time and space machine,” he tells her. “Is it safe?” she questions, to which he responds, “I have no idea.” During one of their adventures to the dinosaur era, Ruby asks if she’s going to change time by simply stepping on a butterfly, and he says no, just as she changes from a human to a green, scaly creature.
The two-minute video also gives fans a first look at Indira Varma's character, the Duchess, and reveals that Callie Cooke will appear in season fourteen.
Anita Dobson, Yasmin Finney, Michelle Greenidge, Bonnie Langford, Jinkx Monsoon, Jemma Redgrave, Lenny Rush and Angela Wynter complete the cast.
According to Disney+, which is now streaming Doctor Who, he and Ruby Sunday will encounter "friends and dangerous foes, including a terrifying ogre and the Doctor's most powerful enemy yet."
Season fourteen of the series will be Gatwa's first full-length role as the iconic character, following his real-life debut in the Christmas special 'The Church on Ruby Road'.
The special revolved around Ruby's story, which began with a flashback of how she was abandoned as a baby on Christmas Eve and adopted by Carla Sunday (Michelle Greenidge). Then it flashes forward to the present, where she appears in a genealogy show in the hopes of finding her parents. It isn't long before she meets a handsome new stranger, who eventually turns out to be The Doctor.
On becoming the first black actor to play Doctor Who, the Sex Education actor shared a lengthy statement saying how happy he was to be given the opportunity to play the character.
“This role and show means so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each one of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care. I will endeavor my utmost to do the same,” Gatwa said, in part. “As much as it’s daunting, I’m aware I’m joining a really supportive family. Unlike the Doctor, I may only have one heart, but I am giving it all to this show.”
New episodes of Doctor Who season fourteen will air on Disney+ from Friday, May 10.
