The first Downton Abbey movie was released back in 2019. The movie serves as a sequel to the popular historical drama series with the same name that was ended in 2016. A second movie has been announced, which means that there's going to be a sequel to a sequel. Last week, production began.
The original cast will once again return. Starting from the 22nd of December, they can be watched on the big screen. Next to the original cast, the cast further consists of Hugh Dancy (Hannibal), Laura Haddock (Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy), Nathalie Baye (Nox) and Dominic West (The Wire). The storyline from the second movie isn't known. The script will be written by Julian Fellows, the creator of the franchise. Simon Curtis (Indian Summers) will be the director.
