Prequel series Dune: Prophecy will debut on HBO Max this fall

Five years after HBO Max ordered a Dune prequel series, the streamer has shared the first teaser trailer for Dune: Prophecy.
The first season of the series, scheduled to premiere in the fall, will consist of six episodes, which is on the low side for an original scripted series. The teaser trailer was unveiled during the Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront presentation last week by Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content.

Dune: The Sisterhood

From the expanded universe of Dune created by author Frank Herbert and set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides, Dune: Prophecy (formerly known as Dune: The Sisterhood) is inspired by the novel Sisterhood Of Dune, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

It follows two Harkonnen sisters as they battle forces that threaten the future of humanity and found the legendary sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.

“Sisterhood above all,” says Emily Watson's Valya Harkonnen in the teaser trailer, which you can watch below this news item.

The series, which went through several castings, writing processes and creative directions, with a pandemic and strikes, stars Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoër Anouka , Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning and Yerin Ha in the leading roles.

Alison Schapker is showrunner and executive producer. Diane Ademu-John co-developed the series and serves as executive producer. Anna Foerster produced and directed several episodes, including the first.

Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns and Jon Spaihts produce with author Brian Herbert and Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert serve as executive producers for the estate of Frank Herbert. Author Kevin J. Anderson is co-producer.

The series is co-produced by Max and Legendary Television. Legendary's blockbuster Dune: Part 2 premieres this month on HBO Max.

Such a great teaser, the only disadvantage is that we still have to be patient before the series premieres.

I'm very curious about this. But also know that the story does not come from Frank Herbert, but from his slightly less talented son, Brian, together with a kind of ghostwriter. I personally find Brian's books a lot less profound and compelling. But we'll see, I'll definitely watch it.

I have devoured the books of Duin (Frank Herbert). I created a very visual image in my head and that is why films and previous TV series about dunes did not really interest me. I don't know his son Brain's books. Maybe go take a look.

I think you can watch the last two films by Denis Villeneuve. These come very close to Frank Herbert's descriptions. I didn't really think the previous films were bad either, especially those by David Lynch with Sting in a kind of diaper like Feyd-Rautha, but due to budget and the state of technology at the time they were not able to make it what it should have been. . In my opinion, that has now been achieved.

There are few films, if I have read the book before, that, in my opinion, can match the book. Two films, I can think of, I liked even better than the books: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and The Silence of the Lambs. Just watched the trailer for Dune 2021 and it looks really good. :)

I thought the two films were excellent. A good series about Dune is also welcome. In any case, the trailer looks promising. Be sure to take a look.
