In season five of Emily in Paris, the story partially shifts to Italy, where protagonist Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) tries to rebuild her life in Rome. There, she deepens her relationship with Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini, a fashion heir.
At the same time, Emily takes charge of the Italian branch of her Parisian marketing agency, Agence Grateau. Despite this new setting, Paris remains a key element in the series, as confirmed by creator Darren Starr, who indicated that Emily's story remains inextricably linked to the French capital.
Netflix announced the start of filming in Italy on July 2nd, accompanied by a photo of Lily Collins on a Vespa, immediately setting the tone for the new season.
The cast is strengthened this season by several notable new names. Minnie Driver plays Princess Jane, a friend of Emily's boss, Sylvie, who is married to a member of the royal family. Michèle Laroque appears as Yvette, an old friend of Sylvie, and Bryan Greenberg plays Jake, an American expat living in Paris.
