HBO has cancelled Enlightened. The dark comedy, starring Laura Dern, struggled in the ratings for both seasons. The series, created by Mike White, follows Amy (Dern), a self-destructing ex-executive who tries to get back to her life after having had a nervous breakdown at work.
Enlighted barely escaped a cancelation after the first season. Shortly after Dern received a Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy series, HBO granted Enlightened a second season while killing off Bored to Death, How to Make It in America and Hung. For its second season HBO moved Enlightened to Sundays next to hit show Girls. And now, it's cancelled.
