The Morgan UK-produced, US-shot drama series, which stars Cumberbatch as a desperate father searching for his son in 1980s New York, launches worldwide on the streamer on Thursday, May 30 .
Cumberbatch is executive producer of the series, which comes from Chernobyl producer Sister. Gaby Hoffman, McKinley Belcher III, Dan Fogler and Phoebe Nicholls also star. The cast is completed by Clarke Peters, Ivan Howe, David Denman, Bamar Kane, Adepero Odyue, Alexis Molnar and Roberta Colindrez.
The emotional thriller follows puppeteer and children's TV creator Vincent (Cumberbatch), who struggles to cope after his nine-year-old son Edgar (Howe) disappears on his way to school one morning. Full of self-loathing and guilt over Edgar's disappearance, he clings to the drawings of Eric, a blue monster, his son's puppet, believing that if he can get the character on TV, his son will come home. Vincent's destructive behavior alienates his family, his colleagues at work, and the detectives who try to help him. Eric, a delusion of necessity, becomes his only ally in the quest to bring his son home.
Eric's executive producers are Morgan, Cumberbatch, Jane Featherstone, Lucy Dyke and Lucy Forbes, the latter of whom is also the director. Holly Pullinger is the producer and filming took place in New York and Budapest.
