Evil Things

I saw this one in between the ID series on Discovery + (separate, because it turns out to be a TLC series). It's just like Netflix's Haunted, only slightly less annoying (there are no whining relatives around the narrator) Had actually expected it to be about well-known "cursed objects", such as Robert The Doll , Anna Baker's wedding dress or the real Annabelle, but unfortunately they are all lame stories from people who cannot provide further proof. 1 woman would even have video footage of a ghost, but at the end she is told that she burned the tape ... smart .. As a horror fan it is nice to turn on in the background with the lights dimmed and with your girlfriend (who is also a big horror fan) next to you on the couch, but otherwise it is nothing special.

This series is now airing on Investigation Discovery as part of their Saturday evening Paranormal Nights. I must say I am pleasantly surprised. Each episode tells two paranormal stories that are said to be "true events". Whether that is the case and whether you believe it, I leave it entirely up to the viewer. I'm a bit skeptical myself, but despite that I still enjoy this horror series. Calling it horror may be going a bit far, but the stories and the way they are depicted are exciting enough to keep you entertained for about an hour per episode. And even though I have seen a lot of horror films and series, I have still been shocked a few times. Jumpscares are few and far between, but there are some very effective ones. It's about different things. Cursed objects, ghosts, poltergeists, etc. And it mainly focuses on the impact it has on the people and families it affects. The only disadvantage is that the story is told by the person(s) it affects. So you already know that it will end well. But that should not spoil the fun. Highly recommended for people who like horror.
