©Deadline - BBC/Gaumont/Ben BlackallIn Film Club, Wood plays the role of Evie, a young woman who transforms her mother's garage into a film set every week for her "film club," along with her best friend Noa (Rizwan). The club serves as her escape from the outside world—Evie hasn't left her house in six months. However, their routine is challenged when Noa reveals he has found a dream job on the other side of the country. This news forces them to acknowledge that their relationship might be more than just friendship.
The trailer also introduces Evie's eccentric family: her loving single mother Suz (Suranne Jones), sister Izzie (Liv Hill), her mother's charming boyfriend Josh (Adam Long), and the troublesome neighbor Callum (Owen Cooper).
Other cast members include Arian Nik, Fola Evans-Akingbola, and Ralph Davis (Wood's co-creator), who also play film club members. Lisa McGrillis plays another neighbor.
The six-part series is produced by Gaumont UK (known for Lupin and Obsession), with support from ZDFneo.
Film Club marks the screenwriting debut of Wood and Ralph Davis, with Anna Jordan (One Day (2024)) writing the fourth episode. After its premiere, all episodes will be available simultaneously on BBC iPlayer; BBC Three will air two episodes on Tuesday, October 7, followed by a repeat on BBC One on Wednesday, October 8.
