It takes you exactly thirty seconds to see what Gangs Of London's unique selling point is: hard-hitting, unadulterated and unabashed violence. This latest from Sky Atlantic and Cinemax is therefore not for the faint of heart. If you already get weak knees seeing a nosebleed, this is not the series for you. It's like watching The Red Wedding for ten episodes. It's Gomorrah on steroids. Compared to Gangs Of London, Top Boy is nothing more than a sort of Pluk van de Petteflet in a somewhat shady suburb. I would only get into this if you usually prefer the sound of creaking bones to Beethoven's Third Symphony. It's so brutal that I started to wonder more than once - with my hands over my eyes - whether I had officially become an old asshole. But there is also beauty in all that violence. Anyone who thought Swan Lake was impressive choreography has never seen a Gareth Evans fight scene. Sure, it's all completely over the top and people will (rightly) say that things go completely out of control with some regularity, but it's so ridiculously good to watch. You don't necessarily throw Gangs Of London on for the fantastic story or the inimitable acting - there is still some room for improvement in that area - but more to get your heart rate above 160 again. In any case, I succeeded and I am therefore happy that the door is wide open for a second season. More of this, please!

Get a banshee feeling from it, also this series with fantastic over the top fight scenes and extreme violence. Love it 😍

What a cracking, rock-solid series. Normally I wouldn't rush into this, but in this case I decided to give it a try. Fantastic actors and good story. It actually reminded me of Peaky Blinders in 2020 and even harder. Now to see if I can find the 2nd season somewhere.

Gangs of London is a beautiful dark drama with a great screenplay. It is violent, surprising and highly addictive. Already looking forward to season 2.
