After watching the first episode of, the question immediately arises, will Geek Girl be able to maintain this level for the rest of this season? It starts off strong with many twists, but will they continue to surprise us just as much every episode?Geek Girl is a new series on Netflix based on the Young Adult books by Holly Smale. Geek Girl follows Harriet Manners (Emily Carey, House of the Dragon), an awkward teenager who prefers not to be noticed by others. When she wins a trip to London Fashion Week with her class, this fails miserably when her clumsiness is noticed by model scouts Wilbur (Emmanuel Imani, The Wheel of Time) and Betty (Hebe Beardsall, Andor). Although her best friend Nat (Rochelle Harrington) dreams of becoming a model and being noticed, Harriet wants to crawl away when she is approached by Wilbur and Betty. When they ask her to come to a casting, she only wants to do so if Nat gets the same chance as Harriet.
After watching the first episode the question immediately arises, will this series be able to maintain this level for the rest of this season? The series starts off strong with many twists, but will they continue to surprise us just as much every episode? The answer to this is: yes! After a fantastic start, the tone has been set and the twists and turns only become more fun and exciting. Besides the standard teen drama elements such as a popular boy crush and drama between two best friends, they manage to surprise us with a beautiful, confident Harriet who chooses friendship over fame. Someone who continues to hold on to her norms and values and knows how to loosen up even the most static people.
One of the characters that enchants me the most is Yuji Lee (Sandra Yi Sencindiver, Foundation). Someone who feels cold and distant from the first moment, but slowly starts to thaw due to Harriet's clumsy ways and sincerity. A character that felt the most honest and sincere to me and undergoes beautiful growth in a short time. Harriet's parents are also wonderful to watch. The overall picture of this series is just right. Unfortunately, we don't know yet what will happen next. The series has a well-rounded ending, but there is so much more to experience. The book series consists of no fewer than six books, so there is still a lot to discover in the life of Harriet Manners. We will hopefully hear soon whether they will continue this.

Since 2018, he has been actively translating news articles, columns, reviews and basically everything that ends up on the Dutch site. The original articles, columns and reviews were actually written by others. During the week Mike can be found at IKEA, where he is a national systems specialist and occasionally also in the classroom to teach an English lesson. In addition, Mike logically enjoys watching series and has actually been spoon-fed this from an early age. The genre doesn't matter, there is a place for everything in the otherwise busy life.
