Ghosts (2019) - Season 4
Ghosts (2019) has been one of the best comedy series of the moment for a few years now and the fourth season shows why. Season four of Ghosts (2019) returns us to Britain's funniest haunted house. Alison (Charlotte Ritchie, Fresh Meat) and Mike (Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Stath Lets Flats) are still trying to make a profit by renting out the mansion they inherited as a party venue and lodging. And while they deal with bizarre guests, ghosts of deceased people still roam the house and are only too happy to interfere with the young couple.
What also works well is that the creators try something different every season to keep it fresh. I was very happy that the ghosts of plague victims who live in the basement are back and that they have a major role in a few episodes. It is also nice to see the meddling neighbor again and the introduction of a new ghost also provides some more life in the brewery. The end of this season gives enough reason to keep a possible next season fun and fresh.
In season four, Ghosts (2019) delivers British comedy at its best again. The creators know very well where they want to go this season and can once again make enough successful jokes with the fact of a haunted house. BBC One has not yet announced whether there will be a fifth season, but I very much hope so. Just like in previous years, we can look forward to a Christmas special.
For a few years now, the quality of Ghosts (2019) has been consistently good and its fourth season is no exception. In this season's episodes, the ghosts try to understand the concept of vacation, Alison and Mike deal with reviews of their bed and breakfast, Alison tries to have a relaxing day without being bothered by the ghosts, and Mike has to improvise during a party he organizes. The series is still fun and the ideas for jokes and storylines don't seem to run out yet. What helps is that the actors (and also writers of the series) have worked together for a long time and know exactly what they have in common. The colorful types that constantly collide with each other work excellently. The actors are well attuned to each other and it shows

What Ghosts (2019) also excels at in my opinion, besides making jokes, is hitting that sensitive spot every now and then. In a series about the ghosts of deceased people, you can't avoid talking about death every now and then. This season, the ghosts realize all too well that life after death will not last forever and they are confronted at an unexpected moment. Then each character deals with this in a different way. The creators manage to maintain a delicate balance between funny and serious, which results in beautiful and heartwarming moments.Ghosts (2019) is incredibly funny, but can also touch on sensitive subjects very well

About the writer, Karzal

Mike (1995) has been a member of MySeries since 2016 and is mainly active on the English version of the site. Since 2018, he has been actively translating news articles, columns, reviews and basically everything that ends up on the Dutch site. The original articles, columns and reviews were actually written by others. During the week Mike can be found at IKEA, where he is a national systems specialist and occasionally also in the classroom to teach an English lesson. In addition, Mike logically enjoys watching series and has actually been spoon-fed this from an early age. The genre doesn't matter, there is a place for everything in the otherwise busy life.
