Streamz has released a trailer for Styx, the upcoming crime series with a horror twist, premiering soon.

The new Streamz Original Styx starts when Raphaël Styx (Sebastien Dewaele) is shot dead. When the sun rises again over the chilly North Sea the next morning, Styx's body washes up on the beach. He rises. Without a heartbeat. Is he still alive? He searches for an explanation but increasingly loses control over his instincts, putting his family in danger. Step by step he discovers the gruesome truth behind his condition.

Styx will start on February 2, 2024 with two episodes on Streamz. A new episode will then be shown every Friday.

"You can't breathe new life into something that is dead," says Isabelle Styx (Loes Haverkort) in the exciting new trailer. She wants to let go of her marriage to her husband and their children Vic (Jul Goossens) and Fran (Elena Missiaen) still have little confidence in their father. His professional life as an inspector is also in doubt. But then he is shot by a masked killer. He wakes up the next day anyway. Will he get a second chance? Fighting his new instincts, old image and unknown enemies, he tries to understand his new life.

Styx is a crime series with a horror twist. The series is about ordinary flesh and blood people who find themselves in an unusual situation. The emotional beating heart of the series is about a man who tries to save his family from the mistakes and missteps he himself has committed. But will he succeed without succumbing to his bloodthirsty instincts?

The series has an impressive ensemble cast consisting of well-known actors and emerging talents including Sebastien Dewaele (Eigen Kweek), Koen De Bouw (Alter Ego (2023)), Werner Kolf (Commandos), Loes Haverkort (Oogappels), Aimé Claeys (1985) Dahlia Pessemiers-Benamar (Assizes), Wim Willaert (Own Kweek), Anemone Valcke (The twelve), Jul Goossens (The twelve), Lilith Pas (WTFock), Imani De Caestecker (De Dag), Yassine Ouaich (Grond), Elena Missiaen , Serge-Henri Valcke (Baantjer), Evgenia Brendes (Mocro Mafia), Lien Wildemeersch (Beau Séjour), Alix Konadu (Family), Mustaf Ahmeti, Anna-Marie Missoul (Chantal) and Wennie De Ruyck (Under Fire).

The city of Ostend also plays an important role in the series. The history, architecture and especially the city's bond with the painter Ensor provide the series with its own identity and atmosphere. The series will also have its preview in the seaside city at the Ostend Film Festival on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Tickets are available on the festival's website.

Styx is a production of Eyeworks, written by Michel Sabbe (Spitsbroers, Vermist) based on the novel of the same name by Bavo Dhooge. It is directed by Jeroen Dumoulein (Chantal, Ghent-West), who is creating his first major 'signature series'.

Styx is a production of Streamz & Eyeworks, in co-production with VTM and Hollands Licht. The series was developed within TorinoFilmLab, with the support of the City of Ostend and the Belgian tax shelter in collaboration with Scio Productions, with a contribution from The Netherlands Film Production Incentive.
