Executive producer Bob Singer announced that the CW is in the very, very early stages of a potential spin-off for the longest-running scripted series currently on the network.
The network plans to introduce the potential series as a backdoor pilot in episode 20, which will be written by Andrew Dabb. The network is, of course, launching another spin-off of a wildly popular otherworldly drama this fall with the Vampire Diaries offshoot The Originals. All Singer would say is that the new show would be focused more in a the city than traveling around to tiny towns in the country like Supernatural. A new character will be introduced and that character will then anchor the spin-off.
Supernatural returns for its 9th season on Tuesday, Oct. 15 on the CW.
