The currently untitled comedy project, which landed in a competitive development deal at Fox, centers on a determined 25-year-old vampire who struggles to run the family business for his murderous and suffocating vampire parents while pursuing his dream of becoming an actor.

The series is written by Unstable co-creator Victor Fresco and will be directed by Liz Friedlander. The duo and Wesley (pictured) will produce alongside Kapital Entertainment’s Aaron Kaplan and KatCo’s Tracy Katsky. Fox Entertainment is the studio.
The project’s team is all connected through previous collaborations. Fresco created the Netflix horror-comedy series Santa Clarita Diet , which he produced alongside Kaplan and Katsky. Friedlander and Wesley have been friends since Friedlander directed episodes of The Vampire Diaries .
Wesley was a lead actor and Friedlander was director/executive producer on Kapital’s psychological thriller drama series Tell Me a Story (2018) on CBS All Access, and Friedlander also directed episodes of Kapital’s horror-comedy series Shining Vale on Starz. Wesley also has a production deal with Kapital for his Citizen Media.
The idea for the vampire comedy series came from Friedlander, Wesley and Kaplan who shared it with Fresco. The pitch generated multiple offers before it was set up at Fox.
Comedy veteran Fresco also created Andy Richter Controls the Universe and Better Off Ted, among other series.
Friedlander recently directed Apple TV+’s Bad Monkey and Netflix’s The Waterfront. She directed the pilots for series such as Tell Me a Story (2018), The Lincoln Lawyer and The Equalizer.
Wesley has a recurring role on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds as James T. Kirk.
