Morgan stars in the comedy pilot as a disgraced former football player on a mission to rehabilitate his image. Fey, Carlock, Means and Morgan are all executive producers.
The project is the first formal pilot order NBC has given this season, though a handful of other series are in development.
The NBC pilot is the second series Morgan (pictured with Fey) has recently helmed. He also stars in Crutch , a spinoff of CBS comedy The Neighborhood that will air on Paramount+. If the NBC pilot goes to series, he could star in both series.
Universal Television, where Fey, Carlock and Means are all under contract, is producing the untitled pilot. Along with the three and Morgan, Eric Gurian and David Miner are also producing. Rhys Thomas will direct and executive produce the pilot.
NBC has renewed two of its four current comedy series, Happy's Place and St. Denis Medical , for the 2025-26 season. The network has yet to decide on the future of Night Court (2023) and Lopez vs. Lopez .
