Tony Dalton, Jin Ha and Laura Donnelly are set to join the cast. Sources say Dalton will play a lieutenant in the LA County Sheriff's Department, Ha is a boxer who often falls in with the wrong crowd and Donnelly is set to play a woman immune to Sugar's (Farrell) charms;
Dalton is known for his role as Lalo Salamanca on AMC’s Better Call Saul and played Jack Duquesne on Marvel’s Hawkeye, a role he will also play in Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again.
Ha is a lead in Apple TV+’s historical drama Pachinko, which is still in the air pending a season three renewal. His role in Sugar is not expected to affect Pachinko; he could do both.
Donnelly had a starring role in HBO’s sci-fi drama series The Nevers and has also appeared in Epix’s historical drama series Britannia and Starz’s Outlander.
Created by Mark Protosevich, Sugar is a contemporary, unique take on one of the most popular and important genres in literature, film, and television history: the private eye. In addition to Farrell, the first season's ensemble cast included Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Amy Ryan, James Cromwell, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Sydney Chandler, and Alex Hernandez.
