The (fictional) film industry is alive and well on Apple TV+. The streamer is giving comedy series The Studio a second season.

The Studio stars Seth Rogen (who also worked on it) as Matt Remick, a film executive who is promoted to president of the fictional Continental Studios and quickly realizes he may not know what to do anymore.

The renewal of The Studio, produced by Lionsgate Television, comes two weeks before the series' season finale, scheduled for Wednesday, May 21.

“We’re thrilled to be making a second season of The Studio,” Rogen and his Point Grey Pictures partner Evan Goldberg said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to taking the lived experience of making season one and immediately putting it into season two, then repeating that loop for ten more seasons. And, we’re excited to keep all our industry friends and colleagues guessing as to when one of their personal stories will stream on Apple TV+.”

Added Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, “Seth, Evan, the entire creative team and cast of The Studio have knocked it out of the park with this brilliant show, and it has been incredible to watch the conversation grow with each new episode. We can’t wait to see where Matt Remick takes Continental Studios in season two, and hope for his sake that the Kool-Aid movie crushes at the box office.”

The Studio has received rave reviews for its first season — and has led to speculation about which real-life industry figures inspired the characters. Apple TV+ doesn’t share viewership data for its programming, and The Studio’s first two weeks didn’t land it in the top 10 of Nielsen’s streaming rankings.

Apple CEO Tim Cook noted during Apple’s quarterly earnings call that The Studio (along with Severance and other shows) helped Apple TV+ achieve record viewership in the first three months of the year.

The Studio also stars Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz and Chase Sui Wonders. Bryan Cranston has a major recurring role, and the series has a long list of cameos so far, including Martin Scorsese, Olivia Wilde, Zac Efron, Ron Howard, Ice Cube, Charlize Theron and Nick Stoller.
