Netflix has renewed the hit young adult series Forever (2025), starring Michael Cooper Jr. and Lovie Simone, for a second season, just a week and a half after the first season debuted on the streamer on May 8.
The first season follows the reunion of these two characters, who went to elementary school together, and the beginnings of a romance that blossoms into their first loves. Creator Mara Brock Akil is the producer and showrunner of the television adaptation of Blume's 1975 novel.
The young couple, who reconnect at a party, attend different high schools and deal with the pressures of sports, academics and college preparation. Amidst the hustle and bustle of their young professional lives, they still find time to fall in love.
The series also stars Xosha Roquemore as Keisha's mother Shelly Clark, Karen Pittman as Justin's mother Dawn Edwards, Wood Harris as Justin's father Eric Edwards and Niles Fitch as Justin's boyfriend Darius.
The cast also includes Marvin Winans III, Barry Shabaka Henley, Ali Gallo, Adriyan Rae, Paigion Walker, Xavier Mills, E'myri Crutchfield and Yusef Thomas.
